Our Frames

We approach each frame as a work of art in its own right. Hardwoods, gold leaf, and stainless steel are used combination to produce our own line of custom designed frames. All frames are first assembled, pegged then hand finished, producing what is known as "closed corner" or "finished corner" framing.

Hardwoods

Our hardwood frames are made from cherry, maple, figured maple, and walnut. Woods with natural occurring figure, or "flaws," are chosen specifically for their innate ability to add character to the frame. Each frame is hand rubbed with a 100% pure, natural tung oil made from the pressed seed from the nut of the tung tree.

Gold Leaf

Our 24 kt gold and 14 kt white gold leafed frames are water gilded. Similar to our hardwood frames, moldings are first assembled then pegged. The surface of the wood is then prepared through the application of layers of gesso before an experienced gilder administers gold leaf to the frame. Burnishing acquires the desired sheen.

Stainless Steel

Our stainless steel inlay frames are finished with a fine glass bead "blasting" before being combined with hardwoods. When combined, the cool metal is balanced by the warmth of the hardwoods. The seamless joint lends the frame a clean contemporary look.

These methods, though labor intensive, result in frames that we feel not only compliment, but ultimately enhance each work of art.
